God’s help to the Hopeless
Key verse: 2 Kings 4:1-7
Our God is the God of Hope, we have a Father who cares for us; a divine strength even in the most hopeless situation. Here is a widow who had lost her husband, she was left with her husband’s debt and her sons were to be taken as slaves. Her sons were her only means of support and security. The widow’s problems were beyond human ability even though her husband was a prophet in training, her husband was someone who revered the LORD. The godly can still face hardships and troubles in life. God has a blue print for each of our own life. Paul had financial needs in his ministry (Phil 4:10-13) but Paul learned to be contented in all circumstances. We need to ask what is the will of God in our life. Being rich is not necessarily a sign of God’s blessings but being content is.
God has an answer what we are facing today, God is a limitless God. God has the all the answers in His hands. Yes, the godly will face problems but the Bible says that our Father will grant us access to the throne of grace, come to God personally and address our needs to God. God is faithful and He can be trusted as He will help us through difficulties. It is during these challenging times that Our Heavenly Father helps us to see Him in working in our lives and revealing His purpose.
God’s answer may be something that our mind cannot comprehend, yet if we believe God, He will never fail us. Anyone who puts their trust in the LORD, nothing is impossible for God for nothing is too difficult for Him. The little that we have we need to give to God and our faith moves the hands of God.
Steps taken by the widow
She cried out to the LORD and approached prophet Elisha. She had no bitterness and did not complain, she did not blame God she did not blame the creditors. We have a choice to make, God can restore our life back because the word of God says so.
Elisha was eager to help the widow; the Prophet recognized her faith as she did not question Elisha what He had said when He gave her the Word of the LORD. Miracles still exists if we come to God in priority, not as a secondary source of help. Whatever needs we have, we need to act upon the word of God.
2 Kings 4:1-7 God is concerned for the lowly and the helpless, the widows and the orphans
The helpless widow was willing to honor God and multiplication takes place. The widow did exactly what she was told even though Elisha was not present at the time of the miracle. The miracle came through the widow’s obedience. Many times, waiting upon God is not easy. Waiting is very challenging. God will take His own time but He promises that He makes everything beautiful in His time. God may delay for His own good reasons.
God proved to the widow’s that he alone is enough for her. God gave her more than she needed, generous provision for her life. Our Jehovah Jireh can provide more than enough for us; abundant blessings and unlimited supply.
This story began with a human’s need and ended with God’s abundant provision. Obedience and trust is like a pair of Siamese twins. Obey the word of God for His ways are higher than us and the word of God will bring His word into fulfillment. We can not fully understand the facts proven presented in our life but we can always choose to believe in God’s words. Trust the word of God no matter what situation, we are in take Him at His words seriously. Draw closer to the LORD in all circumstances. Our God holds our tomorrow because our tomorrow is in the hands of our living God. He has the final say in our life. Tune ourselves to the word of God and His power transforms our mind and our whole being. Remain faithful to God, even in our darkest time as God will never let us down. The Bible is the book of Hope, go to God for He has an answer already prepared as seen in the lives of the heroes of faith listed in Hebrews 11. Take hold of the word, confess the word day by day until God brings it into fulfillment. Our help comes from the LORD the maker of heaven and Earth. Life and death is in the power of the tongue, the word of God will bring transformation in every areas of our life. There is always hope in Jesus Christ, in His word, in the power of His Holy Spirit. Move forward, press on until He steps in and never give up. The impossible will become possible in the presence of God.
