Summary of the Sermon by Pastor AnuparpWichitnantana, at Bethany International Service, on Sunday, 16 June 2019.

Winning One Person At A Time

Jesus said to them Mark 1:17  Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

When we follow Jesus we are a changed person, God is transforming us into His likeness into His image and into His calling.  Jesus is actually saying to us Come and follow HIM and HE will teach you how to impact another person’s life. Jesus begins the gospel with this in Mark 1:17 and He also ends the gospel in Mark 16:15 Go everywhere in the world and preach the gospel the good news to everyone.

Picture in our mind when we hear the term “evangelist”; what kind of adjectives come into our mind? Who is the person most responsible for bringing us to Christ? How many of them are pulpit evangelist?

The importance of becoming fishers of men could be just caring, sharing, patience and all of us can win souls for Christ.

Acts 1:8 You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the Earth.  We are filled by the Holy Spirit to be God’s witnesses. We are Christ’s ambassador -God is making His appeal through us, to be a bridge between men and God. God is going to use us to be His ambassadors to get people saved.

2 Corinthians 5:20 2 Corinthians 5:20 New International Version (NIV)

20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Evangelism is helping people discover God is already at work in their lives (Sam Williams)

The presence of the Holy Spirit empowers us to be a better Christian, to be transformed into God’s likeness simply by sharing our side of the story.  Each one of us has a personal story about Jesus to share about what the LORD has done to us individually.

HOW TO WIN ONE PERSON AT A TIME

1.       Be aware

Our job is to bring closer to the LORD, moving up to the scale of the spiritual growth stages.  Just focus on one person at a time. Bring one more person for Jesus and change the world one at a time

Be a part of God’s work then God will work in their life.  Life will sometimes hit people hard and people need God to find purpose and peace in this life.

Stages of spiritual growth:

·         Resistant

·         Receptive

·         Seeking

·         Considering

·         Understanding

·         Ready New Life in Christ

·         Belonging

·         Growing

·         Serving

·         Sharing

We may have different  roles and functions but whatever  it is God the Holy Spirit is at work.

1 Cor 3:6 1 Corinthians 3:6 New International Version (NIV)

6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.

2.       Be committed to pray

Write down and pray for the pre believers and ask the LORD to touch their lives and give us the opportunity to share Jesus, the message of salvation what Jesus has done for them.  Pray according to the scriptures

John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Romans 8:15 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b] Father.”

Mat 9:38 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

3.       Show that you CARE

Everybody hated Zacchaeus but only Jesus visited him and spent time with this tax collector.

Luke 19:10 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

4.       Be ready to share Jesus

Opportunity will arise and be presented in our way. .  1 Pet 3:15 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hopethat you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Our mission has to be completed Acts 20:2424 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

All of us here need to live as ambassadors of Christ, winning one more person for Jesus.  It is not enough to read the Bible only but we need to live it.  People need the Lord Jesus, Savior of the world  the scripture says  Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
