Sunday, 24 June 2018, 1.30 PM | Grand Hyatt Hotel, Singapore

Summary of the Sermon by Pastor Irwan Widjaja, Mission Director BCS Singapore, at Bethany International Service, on Sunday, 24 June 2018.

Live In The Word

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16)

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

How do we live in the Word of God?

1.       Respect the authority and the revelation of God’s Word

The Word is the way of Salvation, the principle of a successful life, and the authority from our Creator.  When we respective and obey the Word of God, we will be blessed.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

2.       Meditate on the Word of God

God’s ways are not our ways.  We need to align our thoughts to His Word.  When we meditate, we are aligning our thoughts to His Word and God will direct our steps.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16b)

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7)

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17)

3.       Live in the Word

We need to be an example to others in integrity, in dignity, in our good work; in every way God wants to know what is really in our hearts (Deuteronomy 8:2-4).  Share the message of truth accurately, share Jesus the Messiah (2 Timothy 2:15-21).

Be grateful to the LORD for the ministry He has entrusted to us, whatever the ministry may be.

Be faithful in our calling (1 Tim 1: 12).  Our faith and our conscience must be aligned.  Some people have rejected their good conscience because they failed to crucify the flesh.

4.       Preach the Word of God

It is God’s desire for everyone to be saved – share the salvation of God to others.   God wants us to be prepared in every season to testify about Jesus (2 Tim 4:2).  There are always doors of opportunity to spread the Gospel in our situation.  Pastor Irwan shared about how he shared the Gospel to a group of Chinese businessmen in Africa, despite difficulty due to their philosophical beliefs.  Pastor Irwan managed to pray for them and one of them even asked to be prayed for healing.  A seed had been sown in their hearts as God worked in their lives.  Living in the Word of God will lead us to become mature Christians and the name of Jesus will be glorified.

Lewis Hilton, died of meningitis at the age of 19.  His family donated his organs to others.  Many people were blessed as a result.  Let our lives be a blessing to others.

Learn to respect the authority of the Word of God, live in the Word of God, meditate the Word of God, and be ready to preach the Word of God.
