Summary of the Sermon by Pastor William Hardrick, Kingdom of Heaven Embassy, at Bethany International Service, on Sunday, 14 January 2018.

The Journey of Saving Grace

This 2018 is season of new beginnings and God has a plan for each one of us.  The chief beauty of time is that we cannot waste it before we spend it.  We should decide wisely how we can spend our time this year.  God thinks about time even in a smaller breakdown, even lesser than a second.  God is so intimately aware of our life that we cannot escape His eyes upon us.

Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:5-10)

Our salvation is a journey of faith, a gift from God.  God can use us regardless of our age to reach the eternal purpose of God.  We can turn over a new leaf because of God’s grace.  Grace is God’s personal effort upon our life.  This year we shall walk in God’s grace and by His grace, and grow in grace.

We need to learn to rely on the grace of God.  The ability of God beyond what we deserve.   The Holy Spirit will help us to grow into Christlikeness.

Divine nature is the very nature of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Our mind, our soul and our spirit must grow increasingly towards Christ.   God wants us to be people of faith, people who experience the promises of God.  2 Peter 1:2-4 - God has called us to glory and virtue.

Let us learn how to follow Jesus.  God’s will must become ours.  We all naturally like to do things our own way.  God is a God of Jubilee and His ways are higher than ours.  Jubilee is celebrated every 50 years and each time when the year of jubilee comes, property that was lost is restored to the rightful owner.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:5-8)

The apostle Peter tells us how to grow in maturity towards the nature of Jesus.  Grace is a spirit of excellence.  God wants us to increase in His amazing grace.  The standard of faith is the ability to become empty of self in order to know God.

God is looking for people who dislike things that are out of order.  The calling of righteousness is a spirit of self-control that God will add into our life as we walk in His grace.

God is making us into His disciples, as we walk closer with Him.  The challenges in our life will cause us to obey God’s words and the conditions of His covenants.  The making of a disciple is a spirit of patience.  It gives us the ability to obey God.  It kills our rebellion against God.

Jesus holds the keys to the Kingdom of God and the keys of truth are for us.  The spirit of consecration helps us to give our life to Jesus.  It gives us the ability to commit and to serve God.  Only God has the ability to unlock the treasures of the Kingdom.

We need to have the love of God that comes from God to testify to others.  The power of love is the spirit of merciful kindness.  God is able to give us His grace to love like He does.

As we develop the grace of God in our life, God Himself will become our prized possession.  The prize of Christ in us is the full glory of Christ. The revelation of Jesus Christ will be ours as we keep following Him faithfully.  Christ should increase and we decrease.  We need to grow to know Him in Spirit and in Truth.  God has a calling upon each and every one of us to do the works of God.  This year let us rely on God’s grace, grow in His grace and stay victorious by God’s unmerited grace.  Amen.
