Why Should We Spread The Good News To Others?

1.       Christ is the Power of the Gospel.

Sin is mankind’s biggest problem.   Sin is a transgression, especially a wilful or deliberate violation of God’s principles.  The power of the Gospel, salvation in Christ, is the only way to restore our broken life.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  (Romans 1:16)

We need to share about Jesus to the world.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16-17).

Jesus teaches us to pray for ourselves but He also teaches us to move into a higher level of prayer - intercessory prayer.   We need to pray for others, not just for ourselves.   To intercede is to act or interpose on behalf of someone in difficulty or trouble, by pleading and petitioning through our prayer.   Intercessory prayer invites the works of God to destroy the works of the Devil.  This month is the month of Prayer Evangelism.  Our Lord Jesus is the greatest missionary in history.  Today as the church of God, we have been commissioned to share the Good News of salvation.  Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”. God wants to include us in His wonderful plan to redeem His creations. Conviction is the job of the Holy Spirit.  Our part is to witness; all we need to do is to share Jesus.  When we share and testify what the Lord Jesus has done for us, it honours and exalts Him. John 12:32

2.       Time is Running Out.

We are living in the end times and the urgency to share about Jesus has to be intensified.   The miracle working power of God will accompany us as we rely on the works of the Holy Spirit.  We can be confident that the power of the Holy Spirit is present for every believer.   God desires to see mankind come to the knowledge of truth.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:8-9)

3.       Obedience to the Great Commission.

Jesus our Lord instructed us to spread His salvation and His teaching to all the nations of the world.

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.  These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;  they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:16-18)

Our Lord calls us to spread the Word of Jesus Christ personally.   One more person for Jesus is the best gift we can give to the Lord.  Some Christians have made incredible sacrifices travelling into remote regions of the world to spread the Good News.  They have the missionary calling to share God’s love into the world beyond the civilised cities.  Some missionaries have been murdered for their faith as martyrs.  They willingly choose to give up their life rather than renounce their faith in Christ.

Reach out to the people around us; there are always people who need to hear the Gospel.  Our mission field is our surroundings, our home, our relatives and friends.  It could be a neighbour who has not heard about the eternal salvation in Christ.
