Summary of the Sermon by Pastor Djohan Handojo, at Bethany International Service, on Sunday, 12 February 2017.
PRAYER FOR MIRACULOUS HARVEST
God is supernatural and He intervenes when we pray. God’s favour is a miracle. One of the miracles is the birth of a child. When Pastor Djohan’s first child was born, he saw his son and knew this was a miracle of birth. When we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, it is also a miracle.
There is sowing and reaping. This is the season of the harvest of souls but we need to sow first. Someone close to us may not know Jesus, so let us sow in prayer. This is the month of prayer, so let us also pray for the nations.
Miracle can happen when we pray. Prayer is like a breath. Prayer gives breakthrough and miracles. We need to pray together.
Soul Harvest Through Serious Prayer
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit. (James 5:16-18)
During the time of Elijah, when King Ahab was in reign, the people worshipped Baal, which involved child sacrifice and free-sex ritual. The people built altars for Baal everywhere. The people were cruel and no one trusted one other. Elijah challenged the Baal priests to bring fire at the altar. Elijah prayed and fire from heaven came down and consumed the sacrifice prepared by Elijah.
It is challenging to spread the Gospel in South-East Asia, where religious fanatics force the people the convert. Some of the people escape to other nations to be set free from this oppression.
Even those I will bring to My holy mountain. And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” (Isaiah 56:7)
Sixteen years ago, Pastor Djohan moved to Singapore and he asked God for guidance. God revealed to Pastor Djohan to build a prayer tower. There will be a big harvest through the prayer tower. Daniel was a man of God and he always worshipped God. The only “fault” that his enemies could find in him was that he prayed several times a day. Even though he was cast into the lion’s den, yet he survived because of God’s favour. The prayer tower speaks about holiness, unity, prayer, praise and worship 24 hours a day.
Through Trials We Will Experience Miracles & Promotion
Three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego were thrown into the furnace. The bodyguards who threw them were burnt but the three men were spared. There is an angel protecting God’s children.
Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the furnace of blazing fire; he responded and said, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, come out, you servants of the Most High God, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego came out of the midst of the fire. The satraps, the prefects, the governors and the king’s high officials gathered around and saw in regard to these men that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head singed, nor were their trousers damaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them. (Daniel 3:26-27)
The fire had no effect on the three men. Although they went through fire, none of them had the smell of fire or got burnt by it! It is such an amazing miracle that King Nebuchadnezzar even declared that everyone should worship the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego.
There is promotion after the test. When we feel that we are in the valley, know that God will bless us and open doors for us. Many people in refugee camps in Europe are asking to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour. This is a miracle of salvation taking place!
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (Ephesians 3:1-3)
Teach our children to pray to God the Father. Treat God as a father so that we develop an intimate father-child relationship. As His child, God has blessed us with spiritual blessings and our part is to receive and proclaim it in our lives.
